Birth of a Poem

Weighed down by thick layers of warm earth,
The seed hibernates through several seasons
But when at last its green shoot pokes through the tough crust
It is determined to succeed
And nothing, not punishing rain or scalding sun
Can stop it from ripening into full bloom.
