with Vladimir and Estragon

a migrant girl picked up
at the border prays for protection
and is raped by her captor.

A young man fleeing violence
falters in the desert and
founders while he waits for help.

A Yemeni mother pleads for bread
for her starving child
who perishes while she waits.

Not all can be saved.

But as long as there are Good Samaritans
willing to comfort or rescue or feed,
waiting will not be in vain.
